The increasing of energy demand which is along with economic activity development and the increasing of fuel price give pressure to the energy users to find alternative energy resource to substitute energy resources which already exist.
Haurngombong citizens have utilized cow dung as energy resources for about some years. The utilization of cow dung, according to the Minister, showed that the citizen can be independent.
“Energy cannot be disappearing, but produce biogas or biomass. Basically, it changes from one energy to another energy,” says the Minister.
Based on the study done by PLN and its directors, in Indonesia can be built for about one million units of biogas. This number is accordance with saving 900 million liters of kerosene or 700 million tons of LPG per year.
“3 Kgs LPG have been spread for about 45 millions to householders, and its number is equivalent with 3 million ton of LPG. These 700 million tons is about ¼. So, 25% of these LPGs can be exchanged by the independence of energy effort which appear from biogas such as this village,” explains the Ministry.
Next, the Minister explained that Indonesia’s electricity production is still dominated by fuel. Step by step this addiction to the fuel will be decreased by the using of the other energy such as coal, gas, and renewable energy resources which is more environmentally friendly.
The government will keep on developing and intensifying renewable energy development because the energy reservation is decreasing. The energy resource which exists today will run along with the increasing of consumption. The lifetime of oil energy is only enough for 23 years, natural gas is 55 to 60 years, and coal is still 120 years. (AK)
