Located in Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday (4/6/2012), Minister of EMR, Jero Wacik officially opened the annual conference of coal Asia “The 18th Coaltrans Asia” held from 4th – 6th June, 2012. In his speech, the minister stated that by the high economic growth reach 6, 5 %, it increases national coal need.
“Economic growth reached for 6, 5% causes the increase of domestic needs. So we will control the export to make the composition of export and domestic secure well,” said Jero Wacik.
It does not mean that coal mining is prohibited. “Export is still allowed, but we control it to prioritize domestic needs to be fulfilled first,” said Jero Wacik.
The minister asked coal entrepreneurs to participate to develop renewable energy in Indonesia. He also stated that the policy of Indonesian mining sub-sector development is based on the philosophy of article 33 par. 3 and par. 4 UUD 1945 stated that The land, the waters and the natural resources within shall be under the powers of the State and shall be used to the greatest benefit of the people.
“Indonesia wants to remain a dignified state. Never think to do nationalization. Indonesia do open chance to foreign investors to increase their investment in Indonesia, not only for coal but also for renewable energy,” he said. (AK)
