The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Purnomo Yusgiantoro have once again urged the industrial sector to divert their electricity loads to Saturday and Sundays to curb rising load growth. The current contribution of industrial electricity load is at 7.200 MW or 40% of the Java Madura Bali system maximum load.
“We need to control the growth of electricity, mainly during peak loads, until the end of 2009. This may be carried out by diverting loads to Saturdays and Sundays” urged the Minister during a roundtable discussion themed “2009-2014 Roadmap of the Indonesian Chanber of Commerce Energy Sector” in Jakarta (6/8).
The government have also planned to increase energy efficiency use by applying non subsidy rates to well heeled customers, increasing the efficiency of electricity products, curbing electricity theft, forming a working group on energy and water efficiency, and supervising energy use in government and private buildings.
One other important program is public education on electricity conservation, reducing electricity use during peak hours, and socializing electricity usage and energy conserving lamps.
