National electricity supply between D-10 and D+10 is relatively safe. According to the General Director of PLN, Fahmi Mochtar, the available capacity is higher than the estimated maximum load.
“Electricity capacity from powerplants is enough to fill the needs during peak load” explains Fahmi Mochtar during PT PLN’s news conference on their readiness to supply electricity, held at their head office on Thursday (10/9). Fahmi Mochtar was accompanied by the board of directors of PT PLN, including the Director for Java-Bali, Murtaqi Syamsudin and Deputy Director of PT PLN, Rudianta, and several high ranking officials from PT PLN head office.
Fahmi Mochtar elaborated that during D-10 up to D+10, the national installed capacity is at 27.500 MW. The available capacity is at 25.568 MW. Based on estimates that the peak load will be at 21.614 MW, there is still an available reserve capacity of 3.954 MW, an amount that is still relatively safe.
For the Java-Bali system alone, D-10 up to D+10, available capacity is at 17.766 MW. With peak load estimated at 16.700 MW, there is an available reserve capacity of 1.066 MW. During D-3 up to D+3, with peak load estimated at 14.700 MW, there is an available reserve capacity of 3.066 MW.
To secure electricity supplies, PT PLN has set up Ramadhan standby posts at all of its units, postponing maintenance work from D-10 up to D+10 unless work is needed due to disruption, increasing coordination with related officials, and urging on its customersto carry out electricity conservation programs.
