JAKARTA – The Government is ready to revise the regulation that obstruct the acceleration of electrification, remembering that the growth of electricity demand is along with the growth of population and Indonesian economic growth prospect. This was stated by Minister of EMR, Jero Wacik when opening the international workshop of “Public Public Private Partnership For Power Plant" in Dharmawangsa Hotel, Jakarta, Monday 916/7/2012)
“To balance the population and economic growth, there is no other way to do unless hasten the development of power plant, develop more and cheaper,” he said.
To reach the goal, according to Jero Wacik, any obstructed regulations has to be cleared, so the development of power plant becoming easier. “We have to make a regulation that ease us. Let’s release ourselves from any regulation that are no longer appropriate to the era,” he said.
The high population increase in Indonesia is predicted to continuously increase the energy need especially electricity. Jero Wacik predicted that electricity need in Indonesia will never be fulfilled because of high economuc growth.
“Demand and supply will never adequate. Economic growth will defeat any supply.”
Technical problem oftenly happened on the spot in supplying electricity need will cause supply shortage and slow down electricity fulfillment. To hasten the electricity supply provision, continued Jero Wacik, the Government will give incentive to whosever build renewable energy-fueled power plants.
“I will make a regulation by giving expensive price. The Government will buy it to encourage private sectors to handle electricity using new and renewable energy, one of those is biomass electricity,” he said. (AK)
