The special service will be charged a special tariff that will be negotiated business to business and will be included in the Cooperation Agreement of Electricity Power Distribution (PKS).

Remembering the characteristic of a very specific smelter load, PLN will firstly assess the whole things related to the current electricity consumption in electricity system of Sulawesi and Java-Bali. PLN will also assess the effects of load consumption towards the reliability or electricity system quality in Sulawesi and East Java and also other technical matters.

The mushrooming of this nickel smelter industry is the effect of governmental policy that mineral may not be exported in form of raw mineral. PLN fully supports the smelter industry development both in Java-Bali and Sulawesi.

By the signing of the MoU together with big-scale industries, it shows that businessman and industries more believe the PLN capability to fulfill the electricity need with a higher service quality of the current PLN standard.

PLN’s commitment to supply electricity for these big-scale industries also shows that PLN is proactive to be able to prepare electricity in large capacity and high quality. Moreover for industries processing and purifying mining products in domestic, based on the mandate of Law Number 4 Year 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining and Minister of EMR Regulation Number 7 Year 2012 concerning the Prohibition of Raw Mining Material Export.
