An Indonesian delegation consisting of the Director of International Trade of the Department of Trade, Secretary General of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, other related departments and bodies attended the 2nd APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), held in Singapore on July 5 – August 5 2009.
This meeting focuses on several agenda including: Investment Expert Group with a focal point from the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Group on Service with focal point from the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Electronic Commerce Steering Group with a focal point from the Department of Communication the Department of Trade.
Several other agenda of this meeting include: Government Procurement Expert Group with a focal point from LKPP, 7th Secure Trade in APEC Region with a focal point from the Department of Finance and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Business Mobility Group Meeting with a focal point from the Department of Law and Human Rights, Sub Committee on Customer Procedures focal point from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Sub Committee on Standards and Conformance focal point from BSN, and Cheical Dialogue and Life Science Innovation Forum focal point from Department of Trade.
APEC, which stands for Asia Pacific Economic Forum, was established in 1989 to help boost economic development and increase cooperation between Asia Pacific nations. APEC membership currently numbers 21 countries, including Indonesia.
