Minister: National Data Center Program Needs To Be Continued

The Center for Data and Information on Energy and Mineral Resources (Pusdatin) plays a strategic role in managing the National Data Center which handles all data related to the energy and mineral resources sector, both classified and unclassified data.

The National Data Center will not only provide ease of access for the government but will also build a sense of security for investors in their business ventures.  The availability of quality information will add value towards the data itself and help boost investment.

Pusdatin itself is created to manage the National Data Center.  “The Center for Data and Information on Energy and Mineral Resources was formed during the department’s restructuring.  Pusdatin is tasked with managing the National Data Center, both for classified and unclassified data in order to improve our data management system” explains the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources during the official launching of Patra Nusa Data building (26/8).

The Minister further explains that the National Data Center not only stores oil and gas data, but also all data concerning the energy and mineral resources sector.  “We would like to build a website-based system which is connected to the national portal currently being developed at Bina Graha as a national single window”.

The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources have planned the development of National Data Center for the past 10 years.  “National Data Center development is our common vision, one that is not limited to oil and gas but also electricity, geothermal, non-renewable energy, renewable energy, coal, and mineral” explains the Minister.

Pusdatin have cooperated with PT Patra Nusa Data and PT Sigma Cipta Utama in managing oil and gas data.  This is expected to further improved in the forthcoming future with the management of other energy and mineral resource sector data.

Concerning data classification, the Head of Pusdatin explains that unclassified data are exploration, exploitation, working area data, which have expired or terminated.  Data from active working areas categorized as classified data.  Pusdatin will keep developing data management to other aspects of the sector to accomplish the goal of a National Data Center.
