The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Purnomo Yusgiantoro officially opened the Mining and Energy Monument as part of the celebrations marking the 64th Mining and Energy Day (28/9). The inscription on the lower part of the monument translates to “Hard Work is My Devotion for My Country and Nation”.
The official opening of this monument, located in front of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources is marked with a signing by the Minister, accompanied by the Secretary General Waryono Karno during the morning ceremony, attended by all units of the department and all stakeholders of the sector.
This monument serves as a reminder of the responsibilities of the Department of Energy and Mineral, which is to manage energy and mineral resources for the prosperity of the people of Indonesia.
The monument takes form in the shape of a globe with a map of Indonesia, representing all elements of energy and mineral resource which forms the base of all mining components of the monument, signifying activities of the department whose activities are based on natural resources.
Three main figures above the globe is the visualization of a professional, honest, loyal, and dedicated worker. Attributes on the three figures represent the three subsectors of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources: oil and gas (Directorate General of Oil and Gas); electricity (Directorate General of Electricity and Energy Utilization), and mining (Directorate General of Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal).
Former Minister of Mining and Energy, Prof. Subroto have shown his appreciation on the opening of this Mining and Energy Monument, expressing “This monument represents the department’s activities in the oil and gas, electricity, and mining sector”. Prof Subroto kindly reminds the audience that the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources needs to continue improving its services due to its vital role in financing the national development.
