The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have officially announced the names of 34 ministers and several other state officials forming the new cabinet on Wednesday evening (21/10). In this new cabinet, President Yudhoyono appointed Dr. Darwin Zahedy Saleh as the new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to replace outgoing Minister Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
Dr. Darwin Zahedy Saleh – born in Sapat, Riau on October 29, 1960 – is the son of HM. Saleh and Hj. Raja Pujian S. Since the age of 10, he was brought to Jakarta, residing in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
After completing his undergraduate from the School of Economy, University of Indonesia, Dr. Darwin Zahedy Saleh continued on to pursue his postgraduate degree in Business Administration at Middle Tennessee State University. He then moved on to obtain his Doctoral degree back at the School of Economy, University of Indonesia, where he was appointed as a lecturer.
Dr. Darwin Zahedy Saleh has three children to Destiana Gianawati, SE, namely: Siti Sulma Mardiah Zahedy (Jakarta, June 20 1986), Fakhri Saleh Zahedy (Jakarta, April 21 1990), and Ihsan Giana Zahedy (Tennessee, United States, February 2 1994).
Prior to his appointment as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Darwin Zahedy Saleh was a lecturer an expert staff to the Dean at the School of Economy, University of Indonesia. He also has vast experience in the financial, banking, and management consultant sector. During the last five years, he joined and became actively involved in the Democratic Party as the Head of Economy and Finance.
