JAKARTA. The government CQ. Directorate General of Oil and Gas, this year budgeted Rp 230 billion to construct city gas system for domestic in 5 areas. These five areas are Prabumulih, South Sumatera, Jambi, Cibinong and Cirebon West Java and also Kalidawir East Java. “The gas system for domestic is a national program has to be succeeded together. The gas system program for domestic is mainly meant to reach regional energy autonomy in supplying its energy,” says Evita H. Lewgoeo in Working Meeting through video conference with Palembang Regent, Surabaya, and Tarakan, Tuesday (31/1/2012).  “The program of natural gas supply for domestic is national program based on Perpres Number 19 Year 2010,” continues Evita. She added that the construction of city gas system will continuously be done by the government. Every year, the government targeted about four villages in two cities or two districts with its maximum connections about 4000 householders. Last 2011, gas distribution system was built in Bontang, Sengkang, Jabodetabek flats, Bekasi Stage II and Sidoarjo Stage II for 25.000 connections. For Bontang will be built in Gunung Elai, Api-api for 4.000 connections. While for Sengkang will be built in Lapongkoda, Siengkang, Madukeleng, Bulu Pabulu, Atakae, and Lempa for 4.000 connections. For 2012, the government targeted 16.000 householders connections in five areas by its target about 3.000 – 4.000 connection per village. “Investment needs for construction in five areas is RP 230 billion or about 40 – 50 billion per city (two villages),” says Director General of Oil and Gas. Natural gas utilization for domestic is potential alternative energy because it is more effective in its utilization. The construction of gas distribution system for domestic is one of national priority program to supply gas system infrastructure for domestic. Natural gas utilization as fuel, as governmental view, could save State Budget for BBM. Meanwhile as citizens’ point of view could achieve cleaner fuel, healthier, cheaper and safer because natural gas pressure is lower. (AK)
