SANGASANGA. Pertamina EP has succeeded multiplying oil production in Sangasanga Field after three years-over governance. Pertamina EP Unit Bisnis Sangasanga Tarakan projected oil production in the field could be multiplied step by step up to 15.000 barrel by 2016.
General Manager Pertamina EP UBEP Sangasanga Tarakan Herutama Trikoranto stated that Pertamina EP has managed Sangasanga Tarakan Field since October 15th, 2008. “The production position after the over governance was about 4.300 barrel per day. Three years later, in the period of September 2011 succeeded reaching 8.600 barrel per day,” says Herutama
In 2011, the average production of UBEP Sangasanga Tarakan reached 7.690 barrel per day or 127 % of the target, which is 6.070 barrel per day. Next in 2012, Pertamina EP targeted to produce oil from Sangasanga and Tarakan for 8.144 barrel per day.
Herutama explained that the achievement caused by some breakthrough and acceleration done by Pertamina EP. The programs are improving oil removal methods, infrastructure and production facilities, suspended wells reactivation, new reserves finding, and also development of drilling inserts by using Grid Based Drilling method. “For the last three years, the production realization of UBEP Sangasanga Tarakan always above 100 %,” affirms Herutama.
Heading 2012, Pertamina EP UBEP Sangasanga Tarakan planned 16 wells drilling, reactivation, reparation and reopening 60 wells, geological and geophysics study in Louise, Nonny, and Samboja. “By having those plans, we hope to be able to reach the production target 2012 for 8.144 barrel per day,” says Herutama.
Sangasanga and Tarakan Field have also done activities related to Observance of Environmental Protection. Based on temporary research 2010 Ministry of Environment towards the activity, both fields have achieved PROPER Biru, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
UBEP Sangasanga and Tarakan are Pertamina EP unit business assigned to manage Sangasanga and Tarakan working areas. The managed areas consist of Sangasanga 5.325,5 Ha, area Anggana/NKL 6.181,1 Ha, area Samboja 1.840 Ha, and area Tarakan Sangasanga Tarakan Field previously managed by Technical Assistance Contract (TAC) Pertamina-Medco Kalimantan.
The operation and management history of the field was started by NIIHM (Nederlandsch-Indische Industrie en Handel Maatchappij) in the period 1897-1905. Next the management was turned to BPM (Batavia Petroleum Maatschappij) for the period 1905-1942. Japan managed the field in 1942-1945. Some switchover happened from BPM/SHELL/PERMINA/PERTAMINA within the period1945-1972, TIPCO – Tesoro in 1972-1992, PTEN-MEDCO E&P in 1992-2008, and since October 15th 2008 up to now is managed by Pertamina EP.
