JAKARTA. Indonesian government actively develops unconventional gas such as coal bed methane, shale gas, tight gas, and biogenic gas. This is done by hoping to be able to add oil and gas reserves, state revenue and also energy diversification based on mandate of PP Number 5 Year 2006 concerning National Energy Policy in which gas composition could be reached 30 % by 2025. That was stated by Vice Minister of EMR, Widjajono Partowidagdo in The 2nd Indonesia - US Energy Investment Roundtable in Fur Seasons Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (6/2/2012).
He explained that Indonesian government through Ministry of EMR and DPR (Legislative Assembly) is discussing seriously about oil fuel conversion to gas. The problem is very important because it relates to many people especially those economically weak. The conversion program could suppress BBM subsidy.
“Indonesian government has tried to adopt the right and wise policy to solve the energy problem in Indonesia. That is why, the meeting is a chance to give advice or view concerning gas, including unconventional gas,” he adds.
Director General of Oil and Gas MEMR attended the 2nd Indonesia - US Energy Investment Roundtable, Evita H. Legowo acted as RI delegation leader. Meanwhile, from USA was Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs, David Sandalow and also US Ambassador for Indonesia Scot Marciel.
