JAKARTA. The request of Mahakam Block extension managed by Total E&P hopefully finish by the end of the year. The Government has owned some options and will find the best solution for the State.
“We have some options, but I couldn’t mention it. We will find the best way for the State,” said the Director General of Oil and Gas, Evita H. Legowo after the submission of Ministry of EMR’s financial report by BPK RI.
The most important thing is that the Government does not want to stop the oil and gas production from Mahakam Block and want a continuous investment.
The Mahakam Block extension is one of upstream oil and gas priority program of Ministry of EMR 2012. Total E&P has proposed the Mahakam Block extension that is going to end by next 2017. Total has managed Mahakam Block since March 31st, 1067 for thirty years. When the first contract ended in 1997, this French company received contract extension for 20 years up to the year of 2017. PT Pertamina (Persero) also hopes that the next Mahakam Block management will be handed over to this State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). (AK)
