According to Mr. Yusuf Kalla, the conversion can save people’s expenditure and reduce subsidy and LPG is cleaner than kerosene. Based on research, the use of 1 litre of kerosene is equivalent to 0.4 kg of LPG and thus local people can save around Rp. 1700 when compared to kerosene. The use of LPG can also save around Rp. 25000 per month per head of family. According to Mr. Yusuf Kalla, if all kerosene can be replaced by LPG, the subsidy of Rp. 30 trillion per year is no more needed.
