THE MEETING OF INDONESIA-UNITED STATES ENERGY INVESTMENT ROUNDTABLE
Jakarta, May 9th-10th, 2011
 
The meeting of Indonesia-United States (U.S.) Energy Investment Roundtable (EIR) will be held on 9th-10th May, 2011 in Gran Melia Hotel Jakarta. The purpose of the meeting is to highlight the energy investment chance in Indonesia and to discuss policy steps which make this chance more interesting for private sectors of United States. The focus of the meeting is investment, especially in oil and gas sectors and also geothermal and biofuel power. This meeting will be divided becoming semi-public conference and G-G meeting.

The event consists of Plenary Session, in which the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), Darwin Zahedy Saleh, plans to give speech concerning Policy goals for energy sector and investment needs, and also the speech of US Ambassador to Indonesia regarding American business interests in Indonesia’s energy sector: capital and technical expertise to boost production.

Next, the meeting will be divided into two panel discussions which discuss about investment in oil and gas and also investment in renewable energy. Besides these panel discussions, US’s and Indonesian government officials and also business leaders of both countries will discuss investment condition of energy sectors in Indonesia.

Indonesia-US EIR Meeting is one of bilateral cooperation in energy sector between Indonesia and United States which has been established through Indonesia-US Energy Policy Dialogue (EPD). In the last EPD meeting last year, Indonesia and US agreed to strengthen cooperation trough three cooperation priorities:
 
  1. Exchange of experiences and information on policies and activities that support and improve the investment climate, build capacity and promote sustainable economic development, through US-Indonesia Energy Investment Roundtable, Geothermal Power Policy Roadmap and Joint Algal Biofuels Research and Policy.
  2. Methane to market (M2M).
  3. Encouraging public-private investment partnerships in energy sector.
