| Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources together with The International Energy Agency (IEA), Tuesday (15/11/2011) in the Office of Ministry of EMR held the launching of World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2011. The event was attended by Minister of EMR and officials of Ministry of EMR and also Executive Director of IEA, Ms. Maria Van der Hoeven and IEA team; Ms. Marianne Zandstra (Special Advisor to the Executive Director of IEA), Mr. Amos Bromhead (Chief Economist IEA), and Mr. Brett Jacobs (Manager for South East Asia Programs). The participants of WEO 2011 Launching come from governmental institutions, BUMN (State-Owned Enterprise), private enterprises, association in MEMR sectors, energy observers, academics, mass media and embassy of neighborhood countries. The launching is the third launch held in Indonesia since it first launch in 2009. This is part of IEA appreciation because only six countries in the world have chance to launch WEO. This shows that IEA admit the strategic role of Indonesia in global energy market, especially energy resources contribution Indonesia for the development in Asia Pacific areas. This year, WEO 2011 lunching is packed as part of seminar by having theme Energy Security with three main topics; Efficiency and Energy Conservation, the Preparedness Procedure of National Energy Emergency, and the Implementation of Carbon Capture Storage in Indonesia. WEO is one of important product issued by IEA annually that describes the recent condition evaluation and long-term projection and supply and demand of global energy and also energy policy in various countries. The study in WEO also includes other influences such as global economy condition, geo-politics, and policies related to global CO2 emission reduction. It is then managed by energy model analysis to produce a projection of global energy market condition in the future. By WEO, Indonesia could map its position in recent global energy market and assist to prepare itself to answer challenges of energy development happen in the future. |
