Indonesian Govt Makes Sure Fuel and LPG Stocks in Disaster-Hit West Sulawesi and South Kalimantan are Safe
The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) makes sure that fuels and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) needed by people in earthquake-hit Mamuju and Majene regencies in West Sulawesi and flooded areas in South Kalimantan are good. The fuel stocks are enough for post-disaster recovery activities.
"After coordinating with Pertamina, we guarantee that fuel and LPG stocks in West Sulawesi and South Kalimantan are safe," said Head of Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services, and Cooperation of Ministry of EMR Agung Pribadi in Jakarta on Sunday (17/1).
According to reports by Pertamina, continued Agung, 2 mobile Public Gas Station (SPBU) units, each with a capacity of 16 Kilo Liter (KL), have been stationed in Malunda area in Majene and Tapalang area in Mamuju, West Sulawesi Province, one day after magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit the region.
The two mobile SPBU units will optimize fuels distribution to 17 SPBU in Mamuju and Majene regencies. In South Kalimantan, the state energy company Pertamina has also added fuel supply to Fuel Terminal (TBBM) Pulang Pisau by 48 KL (8%) and TBBM Kotabaru by 78 KL (11%). All 111 SPBU in the province remain operational to meet public demand.
Meanwhile, LPG stock has also been added from LPG Depot Balikpapan to Bulk LPG Refilling and Transportation Station (SPPBE) in Tanah Laut and Tanah Bumbu regencies by 78 Metric Tons (26,000 cylinders) or 18.6% above normal distribution. "A total of 74 agents and 1,620 distributors remain operational to make sure that LPG stock in South Kalimantan is safe," stated Pertamina's Unit Manager Communication Relation & CSR of Kalimantan Susanto August Satria in a press release by the state energy company.
Senior Vice President of PT Pertamina (Persero) Agus Suprijanto said that with fuel services run normally, it is expected that local communities, regional and national governments, and other community elements can carry out post-disaster recovery, including aid distribution.
"All SPBU are operational and the stock is adequate. Please don't worry and don't get provoked by unfounded rumor stating that there is no fuel stock at SPBU. Especially when digitalized SPBU is functioning, the fuel stock at every SPBU in Mamuju and Majene is carefully controlled at Pertamina's command centre dashboard," Agus concluded. (IY)
