O&G Lifting in 1st Quarter 1.749 Million BOEPD, 5 PSC Contractors Contributed Biggest Lifting

The realization of national ready-to-sell oil and gas production (lifting) still shows realistic number amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the pressure of the global oil prices. In the 1st quarter of 2020, the national O&G lifting reached 1.749 million Barrels of Oil Equivalent per Day (BOEPD) or 90.4% of the national target 1.946 million BOEPD.

The report of Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) states the O&G lifting exceeded the technical target set in the 2020 Work, Program and Budget (WP&B) of 1.728 million BOEPD or 101%.

"This means we have succeeded in making creative steps to increase production," explained Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto, during a virtual Press Conference about SKK Migas Performance Report of 1st Quarter of 2020, Thursday (16/4).

Dwi detailed the oil lifting in the 1st quarter of 2020 reached 701 thousand Barrels of Oil per Day (BOPD) or 93% of the State Budget of 755 thousand BOPD. Meanwhile, the gas lifting reached 5.86 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) or 88% of the State Budget target of 6.67 MMSCFD. Although lifting has not reached the target of State Budget compared to reserves capacity, Dwi claimed the realization volume had been supported by optimization efforts and new development through new wells drilling, new onstream projects, and optimum maintenance.

"Special for gas lifting, there's an addition of 78 MMSCFD from three onstream projects, namely Buntal-5 Field (45 MMSCFD), Grati Pressure Law (30 MMSCFD), and Randugunting (3 MMSCFD)," Dwi explained.

Dwi admitted the success in maintaining the O&G lifting was due to digitalization implemented through the Integrated Operation Center (IOC) since 31st December 2019 and the operation of One Door Service Policy (ODSP) from January 2020.

"The implementation of the transformation pillars has contributed to the efforts to increase monitoring and to cut the bureaucracy by finishing various licenses and permits in an ODSP service platform which is faster, and which has given positive impacts on upstream oil and gas investment in 2020 amid the challenged of the Covid-19 pandemic," Dwi said.

Besides focusing on fulfilling the technical target set in the WP&B, SKK Migas has consistently and continuously carried out various Filling The Gap (FTG) programs to increase O&G production by implementing innovations and operational excellence in upstream O&G gas business. SKK Migas has also made breakthroughs to increase the efficiency of the upstream O&G operations.

Dwi reiterated that upstream O&G personnel should continue to work hard to contribute the best so that the 2020 target would be fulfilled amid decreasing national industry resulting from economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "It's imaginable if upstream O&G operations and projects stop, how big the impacts are on supporting industries, employment, and regional economy," Dwi concluded.
