Geological Agency

Geological Agency is under the authority of and responsible to the Minister. A Head of Agency leads Geological Agency.


Duties and Functions

Geological Agency is responsible for undertaking research and survey as well as providing services in the field of geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey. In performing those duties, Geological Agency has the following functions:

1. formulating technical policy of research and survey in the field of geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

2. formulating policy in the field of services on geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

3. undertaking research and survey as well as providing services in the field of geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

4. formulating norms, standards, procedures, and criteria in the field of geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

5. providing technical guidance and supervision in the field of survey and services on geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

6. giving supervision, evaluation and report in the field of research, survey and services on geological resources, volcanology and geological hazard mitigation, groundwater, and environmental geology, as well as geological survey;

7. managing the administration of Geological Agency; and

8. performing other functions assigned by the Minister.


Organizational Structure

Geological Agency consists of:

1. Secretariat of Geological Agency;

2. Center for Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal Resources;

3. Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation;

4. Center for Groundwater and Environmental Geology;

5. Center for Geological Survey.
