Ministry of EMR Teams up with IEA to Strengthen Renewable Energy

Although the Covid-19 pandemic is raging, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) continues to strengthen the electricity supply from renewable energy. This is done in collaboration with International Energy Agency (IEA), a body carrying on international energy programs.

Represented by Special Advisor to Minister of EMR on Infrastructure Development Acceleration and Investment, Ministry of EMR held a video conference on Friday (08/05) to review the cooperation with IEA.

"This review forms a series of collaboration between both parties in the study on Renewable Energy Investment and Integration in the Power Sector," said the Special Advisor, Triharyo Indrawan Soesilo.

"The parallel discussion of the video conference has gained IEA's support for the integration of 140 MW Cirata Solar Power Plant into PLN's Grid. Moreover, IEA has offered its input plan for the development of Smart Grid in Java Island," he added.

"This collaboration is a follow up to the discussion between Minister of EMR Arifin Tasrif with IEA's Director Fatih Birol, in particular a follow up to the discussions during IEA's Ministerial Roundtable on Economic Recovery Packages with a Focus on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy of 24 April 2020," concluded Hengki, Mr. Soesilo's nickname.
